When a new season rolls around, it’s incredibly tempting to fill our wardrobes with a bunch of new items.
For many of us, however, this isn’t always possible, for many reasons.
One of the easiest and most affordable ways to refresh your new season wardrobe (and one of my favourite ways)?
A few new tops in the wardrobe can create heaps of new outfit options. You can mix and match them with any pants, jeans or skirts you already have. You can layer them up with jackets and coats. And all without breaking the bank.
Here are 5 of my favourite new tops for winter…
1. The Soft Grey Tee
In some parts of Australia, you can still get away with just wearing a t-shirt in the middle of winter. For the rest of us, it makes for a great layering piece.
My pick? The ‘Walker Tee’ from Feather and Noise. It comes in black, white, navy stripe and – my personal fave – grey.
It has a round neck, cuffed sleeves, a relaxed cut and is super soft.
2. The Choker Wrap Top
Another great top to have in the wardrobe is one that can take you from work to weekend, desk to drinks.
Enter: the Forcast ‘Holly’ Choker Wrap Top.
It’s soft and drapey, waking it an easy wearing item to rock all day and is dressy enough to meet the girls for a wine or the husband for a dinner date. The neckline also looks fab peeking out from under a coat.
Forcast ‘Holly’ Choker Wrap Top (size 10) $59.95 (similar style – mine isn’t available online yet, will update when it is)
3. The Boho Blouse
This winter, I really have a thing for tops with beautiful neckline details.
I think it’s because it’s what you can see at all times – even when wearing a coat or jacket.
This ‘Mason’ Top from Firefly is a beautiful boho inspired top with lace detail and a relaxed fit.
4. The Chambray Shirt
I cannot tell you how long I’ve been on the hunt for a chambray shirt that looks decent on me. Probably the past 2-3 years – not joking.
And then, by chance, I found it while browsing through Kmart the other week. I didn’t even try it on. I just grabbed it off the rack, popped it in my shopping basket and took it home. Bingo! We have a winner.
It has a relaxed yet flattering cut and is super soft… and only $17!
5. The Mustard Jumper
I’ve been wearing quite a bit of colour this winter and a particular favourite has been mustard.
I love wearing it with neutrals – black, white, grey – as it really pops.
This ‘Sammy’ Cable Knit Jumper from Feather and Noise has fabulous details including cutouts at the elbows and bell sleeves, making it a super fun choice to jazz up the old ‘jeans and jumper’ combo.
