Celebrating Our 2nd Wedding Anniversary

Our 2nd Wedding Anniversary: Lunch at 2KW Adelaide | SONIASTYLING.COM

The traditional gift for a 2nd wedding anniversary might be cotton, but last weekend we decided to celebrate with a long, leisurely Sunday lunch instead.

That’s just how we roll!

We’d both been dying to try a new rooftop bar and restaurant called 2KW located in the heart of Adelaide and as luck would have it, we managed to score the exact same weather conditions as our wedding day – 25 degrees, sunny with a slight breeze. Perfect!

{For those of you that want to know what I wore, you can check out the details here.}

Scott Wines Fiano: Lunch at 2KW Adelaide | SONIASTYLING.COM

We enjoyed a crisp, easy to drink Fiano from Scott Wines (located in the Adelaide Hills township of Hahndorf) and managed to die and go to foodie heaven by eating our way through:

  • Hervey Bay scallops with smoked corn puree, corn and jalapeno salsa and volcanic black salt
  • Spinach, kefalotyri sheep cheese croquettes with beetroot and turnip pickle
  • Pink snapper sashimi with green harissa, coriander and finger lime (my fave!)
  • South Australian Gulf calamari with seasoned polenta dust and house made chilli jam
  • Slow cooked grilled octopus with confit kipfler, chorizo and romesco sauce (the husband’s fave!)
  • Classic mozzarella salad with with Adelaide Plains heirloom tomatoes, torn basil and balsamic reduction

But of course I left just enough room to sample the signature 2KW Cocktail, which was ahhhmazing (cos, y’know #soniastylinghappyhour and all that jazz).

{Side note: whoever was hired as the interior decorator of 2KW, can you please come to my place and deck it out just like that? Thanks.}

It truly was the best way to celebrate our marriage and each other.

Cheers!

How do you like to celebrate anniversaries?

Have you been to any new restaurants lately? Would you recommend it?

    Happy anniversary you two! That food looks amazing. I am so hungry just looking at it. We have never really celebrated our anniversary which is a shame. We really should start. This year it falls on the same date as the local food and wine festival. Perfect I say xx

    Happy Anniversary! I have major food envy right now.
    One of the things I miss the most about living in Adelaide is the food & amazing restaurants. The calamari looks amazing!

    Happy anniversary, you gorgeous pair! Man, are you going to have some good lookin’ babies! If and when you choose to do so, obviously x

    I recently found a new cafe in Marrickville, West Juliett. Introduced to it by Deauvanne from Mama Stylista, and Mr and Mrs Romance. Best salted caramel milkshakes in town!

    Happy anni lovebirds! We planned our wedding so it would be near Valentine’s Day and so that it would fall in school holidays (I was teaching in the UK then.) It was such an ace plan because until we moved down under we spent every anniversary in a different European city! I just love love!

    Yum and Happy Anniversary – a good meal with your loved one is still one of my favorite ways to celebrate an event such as this one – 20 years later we don’t swap gifts, but the meal together is still all-important! X

    Congratulations!!! You are the most gorgeous couple. There are so many fun places opening up in Sydney at the moment, since the licencing laws have changed, but I think a fave is the Tea Cosy the divine, Kimbalikes introduced me to x

    • Sonia says

      Oh, thanks so much Bele. Sounds like such a fab place! The licensing laws have changed here in Rads too and there are so many new and fabulous little bars and restaurants popping up everywhere. The best part is everyone is so excited about it and heading out to support these small businesses. So great!

    Happy 2nd Wedding Anniversary. Looks like a perfect way to spend the day celebrating each other & your marriage.
    Those scallops & that calamari…oh my! We love to celebrate our anniversaries with at the least a dinner out together sans kids. Even better is a night or two away, but with six children that is a rare event.

    We were married in the same lovely March week, it seems. Just a decade or so separating our best days. I hope you will be as happy as Bart and I in another 10+ years. I know you will be, darling couple that you are! x

    Happy anniversary! I love a good long leisurely lunch – it’s the way a lunch should be (and your lunch looked spectacular). Handy Hubby and I celebrate 9 years of marriage next month. We always celebrate by going out to dinner but for the big 10 year celebration I’m hoping we might take a short break away. As long as we are together and there’s a nice glass of wine for us each to toast, then I’m one happy gal.

    • Sonia says

      Happy anniversary for next month! I agree – so long as you’re together and have a nice meal and a glass (bottle) of wine to share, there’s no better way to celebrate. x
