My Fave Room: Christina & Jim from Mr & Mrs Romance

Welcome to the first episode of My Fave Room for 2015!

If you’re anything like me, you love nothing more than a behind the scenes look at other people’s homes.

And me being the inquisitive blogger that I am, I’ve managed to convince some of our favourite bloggers to share their favourite room with us.

In the first episode, we got to hang out in the very funky office of Tessa from Down that Little Lane. Our second episode saw us visiting the beautiful kitchen of Beth from BabyMac. In the third episode, we had a rather interesting tour of the laundry belonging to Mrs Woog. And our final episode for 2014 saw us spending some time in Nikki from Styling You’s ahhhmazing Lady Room.

Today, I’m super excited to welcome my girl crush and hair idol, Christina from Hair Romance. As an added bonus, Christina comes with her wickedly funny and grammatical genius husband, Jim! Together they are taking us on a tour of their very cool bar-slash-office (ie: my idea of heaven at home)

Which room of your house is your favourite?

I love our bar.

It also is our office/sunroom and it’s my favourite place to hang out and watch the sun go down.

What makes it so special?

I love the full height windows and the curve of this room.

At first we didn’t know what to do with it and just used it as a dining room since we’ve switched it around and put our bar in here, it really works.

What’s your favourite item in the room and why?

I found our retro bar in Vinnies years ago for $40 when I first moved out of home.

I somehow managed to fit it in the boot of my car to get it back to my place. Funny thing is, when I moved out it wouldn’t fit in my car.

The bar has been the centre of many fun cocktail parties at our place.

I’m not much of a crafter but we made the heart light that hangs behind the bar and it’s another favourite item in the room.

What are your go-to stores for decorating?

I love searching for vintage finds at second hand stores. I also love Freedom and West Elm.

The Ampersand cushion is from I Love Linen.

What items are on your wish list for this room?

I’d love to find a cute side table for our chairs.

I’m also not convinced they’re the right chairs for the space.

I’d love to find a great lounge chair with a swivel base but I don’t think it exists.

What 3 items or elements do you think the perfect room needs?

A focal point – like an amazing piece of furniture or art, a comfy chair and greenery.

I’m hopeless at keeping house plants so I rely on the trees outside and I love buying flowers for our place.

I’m lucky enough to have been at that bar in person and love that bar and the drinks Jim magics up from behind it! I don’t have a home bar but I do have a few drinks cupboards (yes, plural!) I don’t know if they’re well stocked, but put it this way, no one will leave our place thirsty!

I wish we had a designated bar area, it looks so cool and comfy as well. A similar option we have is our breakfast bar. Its always nice having friends sit and have a drink while you whip up some snacks 🙂

I wish we had a proper bar too! But yes, like you, whenever we have friends over we all seem to congregate around the kitchen bench.

What is with that?! We recently went stayed at a penthouse apartment for the night for a friend’s 30th and we all pretty much stood in the kitchen the whole night lol. I suppose it’s closer to the drinks
