What to wear on New Year’s Eve

Sonia Styling + Adelaide Casino Collaboration

Christmas might be around the corner but, at the rate this year is going, we’ll blink and it will be New Year’s Eve!

Have you made any plans yet?

Have you worked out what you’re going to wear?

Personally, I love New Year’s Eve because you can make the night anything you like. Whether it’s a low-key casual affair, dinner and drinks, or a night on the town dressed to the nines, you can do – and wear – as you please.

Just like pairing food and wine, I like to match my outfit to the venue and the occasion.

With this in mind, I put together three outfits for New Year’s Eve, ranging from casual to formal. And, as an added bonus, fellow Adelaide fashion blogger, Steve Tilbrook of Steve Tilly Style has three great outfits for the guys. {Be sure to pop over to his blog for all of the details.}

But where to host such a photoshoot? There really was only one choice – Adelaide Casino! A fun and fabulous destination with so many fantastic options for the biggest night of the year.

Outfit #1: The Casual Evening

I like to start the party with a celebratory drink, which is why I chose Adelaide’s newest addition to the laneway bar scene – Station Lane – as my first location. A perfect match for my casual outfit.

The Medusa Embroidered Dress features a classic pull-on sundress silhouette with adjustable waist tie, midi length, fun tassels around the neckline and beautiful embroidery detail. A party dress that’s cute and comfortable and ready for a wander down Station Lane.

Station Lane begins outside Sean’s Kitchen (a firm Adelaide dining favourite and my formal destination of choice) where you can enjoy a drink and some rockin’ good tunes while admiring the new street art additions to Station Lane by Lisa King.

Wander down a little further and your next stop is the Pimm’s Garden Bar. A lush garden bar with cocktails, live entertainment, delicious food with indoor and outdoor seating.

A few more steps down Station Lane and… yes way, frosé! Say bonjour to the Jacob’s Creek Le Petit Rosé Bar – a sweet little spot to enjoy a refreshing frosé cocktail.

The final stop down Station Lane is Barossa Bar + Grill, where you can enjoy regional produce and wine from local producers. A perfect last pit stop.

Outfit #2: Dressed up for Dinner and Drinks

If you’re more a dinner and drinks type of person, then this is the outfit – and venue – for you.

Flirty and feminine, the Bordeaux Tiered Dress is the perfect choice for an evening at Madame Hanoi.

It has the most flattering fit and features a dramatic flare silhouette, fitted bodice, tiered ruffle skirt, front knot detailing and a zipped back.

Also, the name of the dress is a fabulous nod to the restaurant and bar’s French-Vietnamese influence, which was inspired by chef, Nic Watts’ honeymoon in Vietnam. So lovely!

The New Year’s Eve offering includes a four-course feast of Madame Hanoi’s favourite dishes and a glass of Louis Bouillot Perle d Ivoire Blanc de Blancs on arrival.

Madame Hanoi is a beautiful venue for dreamers and adventurers, friends and family to come together and ring in 2018 in style.

Outfit #3: A Formal Night Out

For some people, New Year’s Eve is the ultimate opportunity to get dressed up to the nines and enjoy a decadent dinner at an amazing restaurant.

Which is why I chose this stunning Lustre Off Shoulder Long Dress. A gorgeous midi length, it features lace trim and a waist tie. Simply stunning and incredibly elegant, it’s my pick for dinner at Sean’s Kitchen.

Sean’s Kitchen is a New York brasserie inspired restaurant utilising the very best South Australian produce, with dishes designed to be shared.

Begin your New Year’s Eve dinner at Sean’s Kitchen with a glass of champagne on arrival followed by their signature locally sourced dishes plus Sean’s take on a number of festive classics. Some of my absolute favourites are on this menu – in particular, the Seafood Platter and the Duck Fat Roast Potatoes. Yum!
