What Sonia Wore: Mixing Comfort With Style

It’s all been happening around these parts lately!

We have some very special interstate visitors coming to stay next week, so we’ve been trying to finish off some jobs around the house. Still plenty to do in the coming days, too – eek!

I’ve also been busy buying flannelette sheet sets and extra blankets because the nights have gotten so darn cold.

And what else is news?

Well, as you might know, I’m determined to get my health on the right track and as part of that, I received the results of a food intolerance test I had recently. Turns out eggs, gluten and whey are all bad news for me, which means a big change in the way I eat.

Rather than getting down in the dumps about all the things I can’t eat, I’m choosing to see it as a positive thing that will help me focus on what I can eat – and in turn, feel a heck of a lot better.

I’m also going for further tests and a specialist visit in the near future.

The way I see it is that the pieces of my health puzzle are coming together and I should soon have the whole picture.

But enough of that. Let’s talk fashion!

I’ve been layering up a storm lately thanks to the cooler weather and, as is usually the case on the weekends, I love to start with a (super comfy) pair of jeans as the base of an outfit.

On this particular day, I decided to combine comfort with style. I’ve mixed the Pantone colour of the year – marsala – with my favourite winter colour, grey. A dash of leopard print, some denim, a classic camel bag and a hint of bling all contribute to a look that could be described as pretty preppy…

Hi there, did you buy the shoes from the US or Hush Puppies here? They look great and comfortable.

    • Sonia says

They are super comfortable! These are from the Australian Hush Puppies site. If you click on the pink text, it will take you directly to the page for these shoes on the Aussie Hush Puppies website.

They are soooooo comfortable and incredibly flattering. I’m really impressed with them. Plus I like that there’s a bit of distressed detailing, but not too much – so they can easily be dressed up for a night out.

Hi Sonia – ex Adelaide (was going to say girl, but at 45 I’m no longer a girl, even though clearly, I think that I am). New reader. Just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know how much I enjoy your styling photos and notes but also how much I really appreciate you disclosing items you have been supplied with and your affiliate links. I have no problem with bloggers earning money from their work, but appreciate the transparency of the process when you do – it builds so much more trust with your readers and also gives a sense that you appreciate your readers and their intelligence. Best of luck with everything.

Thanks Kirsty! My policy is total honesty. I know my readers are fantastic people who understand I couldn’t possibly afford to buy several new items each week to blog about and they also appreciate that I would love to be a full time blogger some day – and you are clearly one of those wonderful people. So thank you for your compliment, your support and your kindness. 🙂

What a fun stylish casual outfit. Can I ask about those Belle Boheme jeans… Whats the material and fit like? How does it compare to other jeans you wear? (i.e. Ziggy denim, Katies)

    • Sonia says

The jeans are fantastic! They are incredibly comfortable and well tailored. The material is thick but soft and it has a good amount of stretch to them. I like them as a slightly dressier and more winter friendly option to my distressed Ziggy Denim ones. Highly recommended!

Pretty preppy?! It’s perfect prose! You look perfectly pretty. Gorgeous x

We had a lovely long weekend. Lots of family time, but because Boyo had lots of hangouts with his mates, we also had lots of couple time. I also had some girl shopping time, and some time hanging with our neighbours. Their little girl set up an obstacle course in the garage and the big kids had fun on the skateboards and scooters. Including this big kid – who fell over on her arse!

    Hi Sonia
Interested to hear about the food intolerance testing. What process did you use to have this done? Through a doctor? Naturopath?
    Ps love this outfit!

    • Sonia says

A blood test through my naturopath that tests two different antibodies (IgA and IgG) reactions to 95 different foods.
