What Sonia Wore: 2015 Spring Racing Carnival

Have you ever heard that saying, ‘it takes a village’?

Well, that was certainly the case when it came to getting me ready for the races!

I was incredibly lucky to have my very own Glam Squad come together to beautify and frock me up for both Derby Day and Melbourne Cup Day.

I was also incredibly grateful to be the South Australian Jockey Club social media ambassador for the Spring Racing Carnival here in South Australia, which meant I not only got to share my top styling tips for the races but I also got to be involved in judging not one, not two, but three fashion competitions on Melbourne Cup Day.

Can we all please take a moment to appreciate the winner of Fashion At The Races – Justine? Absolute on trend pastel perfection with a hand painted leather headpiece and impeccable attention to detail with accessories. A very worthy winner in a tough crowd of competitors!

But back to the team that built me – ha!

Shout out to my Glam Squad…

A very special thank you to Vanessa from Pretty Little Things Beauty for always doing such a fabulous job of my nails and tan. Thanks to Alex at Fon Salon for sacrificing her biceps to blow dry my hair way better than I ever could. And a huge thank you to Kara Fantasia of Runway Room (Adelaide) for coming to my house both mornings to transform my face from I Woke Up Like This (The Sonia Edition) to I Woke Up Like This (The <Almost> Beyoncé Edition)!

Thanks Beth! I was incredibly lucky – that Liza Emanuele gown was made especially for me in my size so I could wear it on Melbourne Cup day. It’s only just hit the shop floor since then! Truth be told I was very reluctant to give it back…

You in both outfits … gorgeous. I personally adore the Derby day dress. Sadly I don’t have your fabulous tresses to do your lovely Melbourne Cup look justice. le sigh!
